Giving Back! Let's make a difference for someone

I know a lot of you go to Abundant Life Church and I just want to encourage you to make a special shopping trip or check your well-stocked pantries for the 100x100. You can get more information HERE!


Also, this weekend April 24th and April 25th will be a Special Benevolence Offering Opportunity. These donations will be helping many needy families and individuals in the Se area. Even if you don't go to this church you could always drop these items off or give to another local charity for those in need.




Here are a few Items in need:
Tuna,
beef stew or meat soups,
hearty soups,
canned spaghetti/pasta,
chili,
beans (kidney, pinto, green, yellow, refried or black beans),
baby formula/food,
Ensure or other nutritional supplement drinks,
rice,
powdered milk,
granola bars,
peanut butter,
diapers, toothpaste/toothbrushes,
soap,
shampoo,
disposable razors

Giving Back

There is a part of my neighborhood I drive by where I see the same homeless people & it breaks my heart everytime I drive past them. I have a huge stockpile of food & household items that I keep on hand for our family and to give to others in need or for our annual garage sale.

Well, today I got the courage to put these items together for this man I see on the corner usually every Thursday. It's a safe place for me to give it to him since it's at a busy intersection. If you know someone in need, please give as you feel led.

Help For Haiti

Are you in the local Portland area and looking for a way to help those in Haiti? Check out Frugal Living NW to get complete information on The Portland-Haiti Relief Container program. They are accepting donations this week through Tuesday for a 40-foot container that will be shipped to Haiti.

I know this is late notice, but hopefully some of you will be able to go through your pantries and closets. I know I will be tonight!

Impact Your World: Help For Haiti

I'm sure pretty much everyone has heard about the devastating earthquake that hit Haiti on Tuesday. There are many legitimate organizations that are already on the ground there that could use our financial support including World Vision, Doctor's Without Borders, and the American Red Cross.

CNN has a full list of organizations providing aid to those in need. With all the daily news coverage of stories of pain and suffering (this one and others), it's easy become numb and consumed with our own lives. Wouldn't it be awesome if we all made 2010 a year of giving back and consciously looking for ways to help those in need?

My family gave $50 to Project Hope and $10 to the American Red Cross. Crystal at Money Saving Mom, as well as many other bloggers will be donating specific amounts of money for every person who blogs about what they did to help those in Haiti. So link up to as many as you can!
