(Mostly) Organic Shopping

We've had some questions about how we are buying organic food on a budget. Sometimes I think it's nice to just have a picture, and then the break down of the "how". So this is for all you visual people. :)

The food in the above picture was from Safeway, Fred Meyer and Franz Bakery Bread Outlet.

Safeway
3 Starbucks ice cream (part of Buy 3, Save $3, used $2/2 eCoupon & 2 $.75 IP doubled) = $2.37

Fred Meyer
3 Imagine organic chicken broth (used 3 $1 IP) = $1 ea.
1 Starbucks coffee (used $1 mfq) = $4.99 ea.
1 Sun Chips (used Free Facebook coupon) = FREE
Final Total: $7.99


Franz
9 loaves Organic whole wheat bread = $1 ea.!
2 packs whole wheat hamberger buns = $.50 ea.
2 packs bagels = FREE! (you get 2 free items when you spend $10)
Final Total: $10


New Seasons
4 organic mangos = $1 ea.
3 bags Cascadian Farms organic veggies (used 3 $1 IP) = $.99 ea.
2 Organic Valley sour cream (used $2/2 mfq) = $2.39 ea.
4 Cascadian Fresh yogurt = $.59 ea.
Final Total: $14.07

So all totaled, I spent $40.51 and am stocked up on sour cream, chicken broth, coffee, frozen veggies and bread for the rest of the month (probably into next month as well).

A few finds on Organic foods

I did some shopping today, and found some good deals on Organic foods that I thought I'd share.

Franz Bread Outlet (~100th & SE Foster) - I found 100% Whole Wheat Organic bread for 4/$5! So I stocked up with 10 loaves. The thing about the store is that their stock changes a lot so you can't count on the same product for the same prices, but more often than not, I'm able to score awesome deals!

Fred Meyer - See the Organic Valley creamer? I got them both for $2.29! They are regularly priced at $2.19 each. I used a $2/2 Organic Valley coupon found in the Naturally Preferred Magazine (in the organic section at Fred Meyer), and basically got one free!

Trader Joes - Organic bananas are $.29 each. I'm not sure how much it would work out pound-wise, but I got the bunch of 4 for $1.16. The Organic Sugar Plum tomatoes are $2.99 for 1 lb. Tomatoes are pretty expensive in general right now, so $3/lb. for organic is a great deal!

Franz Bakery

Do you need to stock up on Healthy Quality bread? Go to your nearest Franz Bakery Outlet and get good deals on their bread.

1-Franz whole wheat (there is high fructose in this one) $1

1-half 'n' half $1.29 (cheaper at Trader Joe's but I need it for coffee :)

You can freeze bread and take it out when you need it. Also, if you need spices, they have them their for $1.19 ea or 5/$5. There are such great deals at Franz and the customer service is super friendly.

I was expecting a $10RR from the Dove. I'm not sure what happened with that, but we can use the soap anyway.

I made a quick run to the bread store when I realized that we were completely out of bread this morning. If any of you live nearby (~115th & Foster), stop by. They have a great deal on bread right now!
