Hi! Did the grocery game teach you how to find the deals? I don't really get how people can keep track of it all. I rely on blogs like yours to do my deals. I'd like to have more of a clue. Any tips?

Also, tonight I was at Walgreens with all my coupons and deals. I got a mini-lecture on how 'there are people out there who come in with lots of coupons and get stuff for free and rip off the company.'

I told her it seemed that people were simply trying to be smart with their money and Walgreens didn't have to offer sales and coupons if they didn't want people to use them.

Do you ever get this attitude from cashiers? They seem to take it personally like we are stealing from them.

Thanks again! I'm a fellow PacNWer too.

Hi Debra, I'm so glad this blog is helping you with Weekly deals!!

Yes, the grocery game was very helpful for first time couponing. Once you sign up for the trial, you put in your ZIP code & it will allow you to get a List of 2-Grocery stores & 2-Drugstores. After the 4 weeks is up, it will cost you $1.25 a week ($10 every 2 months). It will have a list for you to print with items on sale & coupons to match up. The only thing I didn't like is that I was buying stuff I didn't need, but it was a good experience. If you do decide to do it, I would make sure that you have about a Months worth of coupons to be able to see the savings.
With so many blogs posting grocery deals & coupon match ups, you can save money by watching them & not paying for GG.

About Walgreens...Yes there are some Cashiers that are just not coupon friendly, why I don't know. With Walgreens coupons & mfr's you should be able to use them even if the item is free. Walgreens get's paid by the Manufacturer when a coupon is used, it's the same as money. I think you handled the situation very well & if us couponers are getting the item for Free, the store is still getting paid by the Manufacturer.
HTH, and please leave a comment any time.

Thanks,
Christina :-)

Thanks Christina,

Can you share your 'system' for keeping track of your coupons?

I have a 3 ring binder with baseball card pages inside. I divide them by

1. Medicine & Pharmacy
2. Grocery
3. Household & Toiletries
4. Restaurants

But I hate cutting out EVERY coupon and then trying to alpabetize them in the binder, most don't get used.

So...I have just started trying something new. I use one of those crates that also holds hanging files. I made dividers with the Sunday paper dates on them and just put the whole ad pages inside. Then when I need a coupon, I just clip the ones I need.

I'm not sure how good of a system this will be because I know people find good sales when they see markdowns and have ALL their coupons with them all the time, but at this point, I just don't think I could do it.

Thanks for sharing pictures of your stashes. It was inspiring. And with the economy looming, I'm even more motivated to be wise and stock up on items. My 11 year old son liked seeing the pictures and it fired him up. He told me, "Mama! Do it Mama!"

One more thing, I haven't figured how how to save money on actual food, like produce.

Can you share how the deals at Albertsons' works? Where do you get the safeway double coupons? Do they have them on the ad in the store?

Debra-my coupon organizing consist of 2 photo albums. 1-Grocery, that includes labels on the pockets: yogurt, cheese, Butter, cereal, etc... and 1-Household, Toothpaste, Toothbrush, Cleaning products etc...
Then I have some manilla folders for the Sunday inserts by date or month.
I think you have a great system. I usually take an According file folder that I have labeled with the stores I go to with written list of the items I am going to buy and coupons. That way I know what my OOP is going to be with my coupons. I usually don't take extra coupons b/c I don't want to spend $$ on items I don't need.

About saving money on food/produce. I tend to buy my produce at the Fruit Market (much lower cost than the stores). I save money on food by watching the weekly ads & buying meats & chicken in the clearance section.
Depending upon where you live you may not get doubles in your Safeway ad.
The current Albertsons ad has a Promo, wyb $30 in participating items you get $15 Catalina's back and tomorrow is the last day. HTH!

BTW, I will do a post of some of these questions :-)

Thanks,
Christina

Thanks Christina, and if you ever feel like posting pictures of your coupon system I wouldn't complain ;)

Thanks again!

Oh, BTW, I bought 5 12pks of pepsi at Walgreens last night and got the $5 RR. Then sent my husband to buy 5 more. He paid with the $5 RR and another RR didn't print. When he complained, the manager said that if you pay with a RR, you can't get another one?!!

What's up?
