7 Foods That Should Never Cross Your Lips......

I just ran across this article from a friend on Facebook (thanks Sarah!).

7 Foods That Should Never Cross Your Lips - MSN.

Very informative and great to know, but now I'm bummed that I just stocked up on organic canned tomatoes at New Seasons today! I had already been planning on canning tomatoes this summer, but this will give me extra motivation which I'm sure I'll need. Canning with three small kids doesn't sound like much fun!

We're doing real well...except the tomatoes. Guess I better get motivated for canning!

Thanks for the article :)

You are going to love canning tomatoes! They are by far the easiest thing I've canned, and they have been great. If you can find a pyo place that has a good price, then you can even end up ahead of the game. (of course you can can your own home-grown, but do those ever last long enough?)

I read this article once before, and I just read it again. I've cut back completely on most of those things. But haven't yet found an alternative to canned tomatoes. I have 3 tomato plants in my garden. Hopefully they are prolific so I can try my hand at canning them myself!

Muir Glen (General Mills) released a statement in April that their next harvest will no longer be packaged in cans with BPA linings. Not sure when their next harvest is, but definitely good news!

I would also add deli meat to that list. What I read about nitrates last night will make anyone not want to eat it!:(

Hi Kristin! If your looking for Nitrate free meat you can get it at Trader Joes for about $3.99 already packaged & Niman Ranch deli meat at New Seasons priced around $9.99lb & it's VERY good! We always make ham & chz sandwiches so these are good alternatives.
