Albertsons FYI...

Just a head's up for all you Albertsons shoppers. There is talk about them not continuing to accept competitor's coupons starting March 18th. I haven't heard that myself as I have not shopped there in over a month, but from the variety of sources I have read this on, it looks like this is happening. Let's hope they start releasing more coupon doubles in order to make up for no more Safeway doubles!

I'm so bummed about this! I just went to Albertsons tonight & used Safeway coupons and the cashier told me that as of next week (she wasn't sure the exact date), they wouldn't be taking ANY competitor coupons! :( (This was at the Sherwood store).

Two weeks ago, the same store would only let me use either a Safeway OR a Thriftway double. I sure hope they start having their own doubles, too. I think this is really going to hurt them. I loved being able to use Fred Meyer, Safeway, Haggen & Thriftway coupons there...it was nice to just visit one store to get the deals. BUMMER!

Ah I have read this too and have hoped that it was not true! It is so nice to do your Albies, Freddy's and Safeway shopping all at once! I agree with you Erika, it will help if they actually do the doubles in replace of this. But still will kindof ''suck''!

I was in the Sherwood, Oregon Albertsons store today using a competitor's coupon. The cashier told me they are no longer accepting them as of April 3rd. Funny that you mentioned this same thing today!

Oregon City refused to use my competitors AND Wag RR's last week. I haven't been back. What a bummer.

I called the Albies on 224 & spoke with a really nice asst.mgr and he said they will no longer take competitor coupons starting next week on 3/18. They will in FACT have their own Double coupons and will most likely be $1 since that is what they have been in the past. He didn't know which ad these would be coming out in though.

HTH and if you live somewhat close to the 224 location they will take up to 10 COMPETITOR Coupons until 3/18.

Thanks,
Christina

Albertsons in Keizer said the same thing. As of the 18th no competitors coupons. Bummer!

On Tues I was told no competitor coupons as of Apr 3rd, on Wed they told me as of March 18th...then tonight I stopped in and they told me it's immediate!

How crazy! I was told by "Jason" at corporate that it goes into effect Apr 3rd, but my store is saying next week...didn't give the exact date. The thing that irks me is that they are NOT going to put up a sign anywhere letting their customers know they are no longer accepting competitor coupons. They probably don't want to lose the business & "scare" people away. I would much rather know from a sign than by getting embarrassed by having a cart full of groceries and THEN being told!

When their pharmacy stopped accepting competitor Rx coupons, they put a sign by the register stating that. I don't see why they can't do that at the front check stands, too?

My mom emailed them & I'm going to as well to let them know how I feel about their new policy. They told her that they are planning on "beefing-up" their ad by giving even MORE good deals with the money they allotted for the competitor coupons. They also said that it will speed up checkout and they didn't like how they would be wiped out of a certain product due to people using competitor coupons. Like the Tillamook cheddar cheese they had on "sale" for $9.99 when the Safeway $4.99 coupon was out...my store was WIPED out! I don't know too many people that would pay $9.99 for a brick of cheddar cheese though!

Yes, without the incentive of taking competitor's coupons, I'm sure they will be losing a lot of business. I would personally way rather shop at Safeway than Albertsons.

It's also annoying that they are not putting signs out to let everyone know. Ugg!
Let's just hope that their sales ads start getting better. The last two weeks haven't been worth anything.

Today the cashier told me they already stopped accepting competitor's coupons and he'll just accept them today cause I didn't know.

He was nice about accepting the idea that this will decrease their business but he claimed that they plan to do more promotions. I also told him that it would have been smart of them to include doublers like safeway and thriftway. Anyhow, I was planning 4 transactions today. I just did one and left.
